How does the fundraising program work?

Each student that signs up for the fundraising program will receive an envelope with 12 Birthday Cake Gift Certificates and 6 Super Bowl Cake Certificates.

During the fundraising period, do your best to sell the certificates to friends, family, neighbors, and local businesses. For local business in Mt Pl, IOP, SI, and DI Carvel will include delivery at no charge. This is a big selling point.

For each certificate you sell, you will collect the money from the customer. At the end of the fundraising period you will return the unsold certificates to Carvel and pay Carvel a discounted price for the ones you sold.

How much money do I pay Carvel for the certificates I sell?

The certificates have a face value of $25 for Birthday Cakes and $20 for Super Bowl Cakes. Cadets keep 40% of the face value for their individual account..

For example:

Quarter-Sheet Birthday Cakes sell for $25. You pay Carvel $15 for each one sold and keep $10 towards your individual fundraising goal.

Super Bowl Cakes sell for $20. You pay Carvel $12 for each one sold and keep $8 towards your individual fundraising goal.

What does my customer do with the certificate?

When you sell a certificate to your customer, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you write in your name in the “Sold By” are of the certificate. Blank certificates cannot be validated.

The customer brings the certificate to our store at Towne Cernter and redeems it for the item listed on the certificate. The certificates include tax for the item listed so the customer won't have any additional expense. Lost or expired certificates cannot be replaced or refunded for the customer..

What should I do with the payments I receive from customers?

You will hold on to the money you receive from customers until the end of the fundraiser. Use an oversize envelope or folder to keep everything together and in one place. Ask a parent to hold it for you in a safe place so you don't have any unforseen problems.

Carvel strongly suggests that you ask customers for payment by check. This is less of a liability than cash and will make it much easier to reconcile. Checks are to be made out to Carvel. Check payments work a little differently in that Carvel will issue you payment for your 40% at the end of the fundraising period.

How long do I have to sell the certificates?

Carvel will be collecting envelopes with unsold certificates by Friday February 18th

What if I need more certificates?

Let Major know if you need more certificates and Carvel will provide them to you through the JROTC office administrators.

What do I do at the end of the fundraising period?

You will be given an envelope and tally sheet to complete. You will fill out how many certificates you sold and calculate what you owe and turn it in to the JROTC administrators along with unsold certificates.

What if I lose the certificates?

Each certificate is active and worth the full face value. Lost or unaccounted certificates will be charged against the cadet. Don't lose them!

What do I do if I have questions?

Carvel management is glad to answer any questions you may have. We want you to have fun with this and succeed. Email your questions to charlestoncarvel@yahoo.com and we'll do our best to respond within a day.

Best of Luck in your fundraising efforts!
